HOST A PUBLIC-PRIVATE SCREENING

what are private-public screenings

Lulacruza and Vincent Moon welcome all our listeners and followers to host their own screenings of Esperando el Tsunami.

We call these screenings Private-Public Screenings and the rules are very simple.

There is a few rules to follow:

  • The screenings need to have free entrance
  • The screenings need to be public
  • The screenings need to have a minimum capacity of 5 people
  • The screenings need to be verified by Vincent Moon and Lulacruza, only screenings that are featured on esperando.cc are official screenings

In other words as long as entrance is free and it is an open event (as capacity permits) the Private-Public Screenings can take place in your home, at a café, in a school auditorium or any place you can think of.

The Private-Public Screenings started on November 25th 2011. The screenings are private because they are hosted by private people and public because the screenings are official and open to anyone – hence the name Private-Public Screenings.

“We hope that a lot of people will host and attend screenings of Esperando el Tsunami. Continuing what began with An Island, we beleive that the best way to release this film is with the groundbreaking Private-Public Screenings. It’s a free and inspiring distribution method for the film, and a way to reciprocate the endless help and support that we’ve received from people around the world. The film was financed with the help of almost 200 people and we now present the film for FREE, sharing with all of you the beautiful experience of our travels, the breathtaking places we visited and the amazing musicians we met along the way. Enjoy!” – Vincent Moon & Lulacruza

how does it work – technically speaking?

As a host you will receive a personal link to download the film. This download link will provide you with the film in high resolution as a .mov file type. The download package has a size of 1,6GB. how do people attend?

The hosts of Private-Public Screenings can invite friends and strangers to their screenings any way they prefer.

In addition to this it will be possible for anyone to contact the host of a screening in the Attend a Screening section on this site. Here people can request to be invited for a Private-Public Screening.

If you plan on hosting a screening in your home you have full control over who shows up. If you only have room for 5 people and you already know who these 5 people will be – then you can mark your Private-Public Screening as fully booked already when creating the event. It is also optional for you to decide if the street name and number of the screening is visible or not in the Attend a Screening section.

However, please remember that the screenings are public. If space permits we encourage the host to welcome anyone who asks for an invitation. When there is no room for more guests the host can log in to www.esperando.cc and change the status of the screening to fully booked.

Vincent Moon and Lulacruza will both help spread the word about the many screenings via Twitter and Facebook. We encourage hosts to announce their events and spread the word about Esperando el Tsunami and the Private-Public Screenings via their social networks and personal websites if possible.
